A Diamond Studd: Scott Hall’s Early Wrestling Career

Hall would find himself working everywhere again, returning to CWF and evening going overseas. He did a tour for New Japan and even had a WWF tryout but to no avail for the time being.

Hall was ready to drop his anchor and join a promotion full time in 1989. Being brought into Jim Crockett’s WCW is one of NWA’s initiatives ways to bring in young stars to develop their brand. He would make his televised debut on July 9 against Great Muta before working an alive event tour with Bill Irwin, Ron Simmons, and Butch Reed. In 1990, Hall would have an international tour returning to NJPW. Also debuting for World Wrestling Council and Germany’s Catch Wrestling Association.

He made his final stint for WCW for the time being in 1991 as a member of the Diamond Mine. Now managed for Diamond Dallas Page he wrestled under the name The Diamond Studd. His most notable moment during his last pre-nWo moment was teaming up with best friend Oz (Kevin Nash). He was rumored to have joined the Dangerous Alliance, but talks fell through. Hall found himself in talks with Vince McMahon. Hall would make his WWF debut in 1992 and the rest was history chico.
