There was a Bullet Club reunion, of sorts, on AEW Dynamite, and it could become the biggest collective threat to the Death Riders.
The October 21 episode of AEW Dynamite saw Jon Moxley defeat Roderick Strong in their AEW Continental Championship Eliminator match.
While the match would see Moxley victorious, it was what went on afterwards that will define the journey of Death Riders going forward:
The Dogs descend
Post-match, David Finlay and Clark Connors attacked Roderick Strong, with Moxley getting in the face of The Dogs and attempting to reason with them.
That wouldn’t go well for the leader of Death Riders, with the pair attacking Moxley, leading to Gabe Kidd, who has double membership between both factions, interceding, only to have his brothers turn on him, with Connors delivering a spear and berating him for his allegiance.
The Conglomeration would clear the ring, attempting to suppress the brewing tension only for Jay White to turn on Orange Cassidy, with Juice Robinson and Ace Austin taking out Kyle O’Reilly.
The Gunns would level Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia, with Claudio Castagnoli looking like he was going to save the day, until the numbers overwhelmed him
With members of The Dogs and Bang Bang Gang united, they would stand tall over The Conglomeration and Death Riders.
Bullet Club reunited
Okay, it may be unofficial, but The Dogs and Bang Bang Gang united brings together a wealth of talent who previously featured Bullet Club, with that faction being a dominant force in NJPW.
A heel turn for Jay White came off the back of a tag team win alongside Orange Cassidy over Yuta and Garcia earlier that evening, and sets a new course for The Switchblade going forward.
Bang Bang Gang came over to AEW having been Bullet Club Gold in New Japan, while The Dogs were all members of Bullet Club: War Dogs before signing under Tony Khan. Uniting them in this combination is likely to please New Japan fans and offer new opportunities for all involved.
A fresh Bang Bang Gang
Bang Bang Gang have all the tools to dominate in AEW, with Jay White & The Gunns having held the World Trios Championship. Despite this, the team have felt like less of a threat and more of a side attraction over recent months.
The recent Saturday Tailgate Brawl match ahead of WrestleDream saw Death Riders & The Dogs victorious over Bang Bang Gang & The Conglomeration, with this week’s Dynamite seeing a change of fortunes for all involved.
Switching Bang Bang Gang to full heel mode offers an opportunity to excel, with a rejuvenated Jay White getting under the skin of Moxley at every opportunity. Adding The Dogs to the mix adds a feral aspect to the faction, although there’ll no doubt be a point where a leadership contest emerges.
The Gabe Kidd situation sorted
As a member of The Dogs and Death Riders, Gabe Kidd served double duty, with two leaders for the star. This week’s Dynamite sorted out his allegiance, with The Dogs turning on their now-former stablemate.
For Kidd and the Death Riders themselves, that face turn will freshen up all involved, although it’s unlikely they’ll be coming down to the ring all smiles and high fives.
Intriguing times ahead
The Dogs and Bang Bang Gang united, and The Conglomeration and Death Riders on the receiving end of a beatdown sets up many potential stories coming out of AEW Dynamite.
Jay White versus Jon Moxley should be the jewel in the crown when it comes to singles action and something that shouldn’t be rushed towards. Kidd is also likely to want revenge on The Dogs in any way that he sees fit. Then there’s Castagnoli, whose rage was stopped by overwhelming odds.
So many moving parts across multiple stars in many combinations, this should become a feud that continues well into 2027.
And, let’s not forget that Marina Shafir has Mercedes Mone and the AEW Women’s World Championship firmly in her sights.
