There could be a big change coming to the 2026 Women’s Crown Jewel Championship match resulting in some Judgment Day civil warfare.

As things stand, Raw’s Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan is set to face SmackDown’s WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green to determine this year’s Crown Jewel Champion – a title Morgan won in 2024 by defeating Nia Jax.

However, a new announcement has put that match in jeopardy as Green might not even be WWE Women’s Champion by the time Crown Jewel comes around.

On social media today, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made the announcement that Green will defend her title against Roxanne Perez this Friday, October 23.

He said:

“Good evening everyone. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis here with some big news regarding this Friday night on SmackDown.

“I have signed on the line, my Raw counterpart Adam Pearce has signed on the line, upper management have signed on the line, and most importantly, the participants have signed on the line.

“Because I am pleased to announce that this Friday night on SmackDown, Chelsea Green will defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Roxanne Perez.

“That’s right, Chelsea and Roxanne one-on-one, the title is on the line, only on SmackDown.”

Why WWE could make the change

Perez is of course a member of Judgment Day along with the aforementioned Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan, so if she defeats Green, it would set up Perez vs Morgan in a battle of supposed teammates at Crown Jewel.

Ever since Perez joined Judgment Day, there’s been an expectation that she and Morgan would implode eventually, and there have been constant signs on and off that have yet to come to fruition. Could it finally be time?

Green is of course not supposed to be in this position to begin with – she’s only champion due to Rhea Ripley’s injury, so perhaps WWE believes the Judgment Day story would be a bigger spectacle than a match between Morgan and Green.

Either way, the match on Friday is likely going to further the issues between Morgan and Perez, even if Perez doesn’t win. If she doesn’t, she’ll be wondering why Morgan didn’t help her.

There’s plenty of women’s division action set for WWE SmackDown this week alongside Green vs Perez, as Giulia will face Blake Monroe in a street fight.

Another title match isa on the lineup as well, as Women’s Tag Team Champions Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss defend against Michin and B-Fab.

On the men’s side, the only confirmed match so far is The MFTs facing Bakusai in tag team action.
