Every WrestleMania Ever Ranked

5. WrestleMania XXIV

I swear I did not plan this. One year after the extravaganza that was WrestleMania 23, the WWE found themselves in Orlando in 2008.

A truly great show that was not perfect but the big moments really hit big. Money in the Bank was great blah blah blah we get it. Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels had an emotional match to put a stamp on Flair’s 36 year career. It was not perfect but it told a hell of a story. Edge and Undertaker put on an incredible main event. This was the peak of Edge’s reign as World Champion, he deserved the main event spot and he made Undertaker look as good as possible by tapping out to the newly created Hell’s Gate.

It is easy to ignore the lows of Batista vs. Umaga and the Playboy Bunnymania match when the highlights are so good.

4. WrestleMania XXX

It is difficult to think of this show as anything other than the night that Brock Lesnar broke the Undertaker’s streak. Rightfully so it was one of the biggest upsets in wrestling history.

However, the rest of the show was quite good. Daniel Bryan defeated Triple H in the opener in a great match and proceeded to beat Randy Orton and Batista to win the WWE Championship in the main event. You don’t find a happy ending like that in WWE very often. Throw in a fun John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt match and the first Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and you have yourself a good show.

3. WrestleMania 31

Consistency was the name of the game at this WrestleMania. There was nothing on this show that anyone should consider bad, while a number of great moments made this a truly great show.

Daniel Bryan winning the Intercontinental Championship in a great Ladder match was a great way to kick off the show and things never really slowed down. Randy Orton and Seth Rollins had a good match with an all-time great finish. DX brawled with the NWO during Triple H vs. Sting. Rusev rode into the stadium on a tank. Finally, the main event happened. People were very against Roman Reigns being in this position and were very behind Brock Lesnar after he announced his decision to stay in WWE. How would things end? With the heist of the century.

Seth Rollins ran down the ramp with his Money in the Bank contract in hand. He entered himself into the match and proceeded to pin Reigns to win the WWE Championship in a shocking and unbelievable moment. Rollins ran away with the title and hardcore fans everywhere rejoiced.

2. WrestleMania XIX

It is a shame that WrestleMania XIX did such a poor buyrate. A lack of a clear main event at the time hurt the show’s momentum and left a large number of fans disinterested. What those fans missed was arguably the best WrestleMania ever.

There were tons of highlights on this show as top level matches reigned supreme on this night. Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho had a great teacher vs. student type match, which Jericho has considered his career highlight. The Rock finally managed to defeat ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in a ‘Mania match, which ended up being Austin’s final match of his career. Mr. McMahon and Hulk Hogan had a fun street fight, and Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle was a great main event. Shocking given the poor shape both men were in by the end.

If great matches are your thing, this is the main event for you.

1. WrestleMania X-Seven

The best WrestleMania of all time. You can overlook the lousy matches on this show because of just how fantastic the great matches were. Most importantly, they were all different.

You had McMahon family nonsense when Vince wrestled Shane in a Street Fight, a technical wrestling showcase when Chris Benoit wrestled Kurt Angle, a TLC trainwreck for the tag team titles, crowd brawling from Triple H and Undertaker, and finally a main event for the ages. One of the very best main events in WrestleMania history, The Rock vs. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was a fitting end to the Attitude Era. The two battled and bled over the WWF Championship and Austin infamously turned heel to once again hold the belt he cherished.

While the heel turn would not work in the long term, on this night there was nothing short of a tragedy that could derail the greatest WrestleMania of all time.
