WrestleTalk News Round-up – September 30, 2018

It’s the final day of September, and to celebrate, we’re bringing you the WrestleTalk news round-up! I mean, we bring it you every day, but I couldn’t think of a decent intro so this will have to do. Anyway…

Daniel Bryan on Royal Rumble 2019

In a recent interview with ABC 15, Daniel Bryan spoke about January 2019’s Royal Rumble event, at which he is among the favorites to win the 30-man Rumble match.

The show will take place at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, and will be the first time a Royal Rumble show has taken place in a baseball stadium.

Bryan said:

“It’s an incredible stadium. We were actually just talking about what the metamorphosis would look like. Right now, the thought is that we’d come out of the dugout. We’ve never had a Royal Rumble in a baseball stadium before. I’m super-psyched. I’ve never come out of a dugout to go into a wrestling show before.”

WWE Mixed Match Challenge Mic’d Up video released

This past Tuesday’s episode of WWE Mixed Match Challenge included Mahalicia vs. Lashley & Mickie James, and Team Awe-ska vs. The Fabulous Truth.

WWE has released the latest edition of Mic’d Up to its YouTube channel.

It involves Sunil Singh pushing Lio Rush, and for that reason alone, you should watch it.

Maybe.

Justin Gabriel says he pitched 205 Live

Former WWE Tag Team Champion Justin Gabriel – widely known as PJ Black on the indies – has stated that he was part of the cohort that initially pitched the idea of 205 Live.

Gabriel was a recent guest on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast:

“It was me, Dean Malenko and Jamie Noble. Obviously, two well-known cruiserweights who are agents backstage, and we just talked about it and we kept pitching it to them and were like if we have a network and we need content and we have all this air time where we can put anything we want on but I think that was just a timing thing. Maybe it would have happened sooner or maybe. I planted the seed and I don’t want any credit for it because I’m just happy to see they are doing it right now.”

I’m going to take this opportunity to tell you that you should be watching 205 Live if you don’t, as it is WWE‘s best weekly wrestling show.

Brian Kendrick working as a scout for WWE

Speaking of 205 Live (segue!), Brian Kendrick, who has been slightly absent from the show of late, is working as a scout for WWE.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Kendrick was seen alongside William Regal at PWG‘s BOLA last weekend scouting for potential talent.

In the past, Kendrick has worked in another backstage capacity for WWE, training… Eva Marie. Which went… not very well, really.

It is worth noting that this doesn’t mean Kendrick will be leaving TV, as he picked up a squash win in seconds on the most recent edition of 205 Live.
