WrestleTalk Roundtable – WWE SmackDown Live – September 25, 2018

How would you rate the show overall? (From best to worst: SmackDamn, Smacktastic, Smack Bang in the Middle, Ellsworthy and A Smack in the Face)

Nate Craver

Honestly, I find these shows hard to rank. I feel confident some will disagree, but I felt like this show was Ellsworthy.

People are going to like the Truth TV segment, but I didn’t. Sure, it was funny, but Bryan and Miz don’t need all the sideshow antics for their feud. They have a simple story, but WWE has made it ridiculous by interjecting all of these pointless additions. Therefore, I found it a waste of time.

Orton attacking Dillinger was interesting, but where’s the great wrestling? You’ve got Almas, AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, Nakumura, Cesaro and Shelton Benjamin on your roster. You’ve got Asuka, Charlotte, Becky and Sonya Deville. Week in and week out, we should be seeing at least one or two high quality matches.

Instead, SmackDown gave us angles and meaningless, one-sided matches (with the exception of Sheamus and Big E). In recent weeks, we’ve seen matches where anyone with half a brain knew who the winner would be, but they were still great. There were no matches last night that I would say someone needs to watch.

In fact, other than Aiden dropping the Milwaukee bomb, you could have skipped this entire week of SmackDown and have no problem catching up next week. But, it’s still usually more entertaining than Raw. Whoo!!

Eric Stites

I’m giving this show a Smacktastic. Last night’s SmackDown was very entertaining and only one or two parts of the show seemed at all bad. There was a lot more wrestling than normal which was nice to see, especially because the the majority of it was great.

The promo segments were all very well done and the abrupt ending to the show after Samoa Joe rang the doorbell to AJ Styles’ house and said “Daddy’s home” was brilliant. This was a fantastic episode and I’m very excited to see what happens next week.

JP Wood

Smacktastic. But I honestly considered going all the way to SmackDamn this week. Aside from a weak bit here and there, SmackDown Live was genuinely entertaining last night. It feels like WWE is coming back around on telling multiple stories within the same show. It amazes me how much better they are at it on SmackDown right now compared to Raw.

Brian Farrell

Smacktastic. This was a very enjoyable show. Loved the opening segment and the closing angle with Joe, liked Nakamura, Dillinger and Orton, loved Becky the whole night, loved the Rusev / Lana / English angle, liked Sheamus vs Big E. Becky Lynch vs Lana was fine, and Absolution vs Asuka wasn’t anything terrible. A very good show that flew by!
