2017 Cruiserweight Championship Match
Neville (c) defeated Austin Aries – Submission Match – WWE Cruiserweight Championship
The build to this one wasn’t all that interesting.
It was mainly just TJP attacking Aries in a bid to earn himself a shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, but it was the ‘Greatest Man that Ever Lived’ that got another shot at Neville.
The submission match stipulation really hurt this bout. Selling the 205 Live roster as the most exciting wrestlers in the world doesn’t work in a submission match that involves a lot of ground-based offense.
Eventually, it was Neville who retained with a Rings of Saturn following a Red Arrow.
Obviously neither of these men will be competing at Extreme Rules tomorrow, nor will there be a WWE Cruiserweight Championship match.
