WWE Matches Of The Week #8

WWE Money In The Bank 2018
Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match
Finn Bálor vs. Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Roode vs. Braun Strowman vs. Rusev vs. Samoa Joe vs. The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston

This was just a load of fun capped off with a disappointing winner. I wouldn’t say it ruined the match though. That said, it should not have been the main event. All the gang set out to destroy Braun and eliminate him from the match. This worked for a while and the rest of the field all got their licks in.

Braun soon rose from his laddery grave, however, and terrorized the match. He beat down Rusev and Joe. Then threw Owens from the top of a gigantic ladder through some tables. Knocked down Kofi. He broke through another ladder which was to be used against him by Roode and Bálor. This all left the Miz alone in the ring, looking absolutely petrified and it was awesome. A very solid main event even if it shouldn’t have been there.

SmackDown Live
WWE Championship Number One Contender’s Gauntlet
Big E vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Samoa Joe vs. The Miz vs. Rusev

Raw wasn’t great so straight to SmackDown Live we go. So much of this was done to perfection. Big E managed to put on an incredible opening round with Daniel Bryan. The muscle of the New Day looked right at home in the main event scene and the rumors of his push look to be coming to fruition just around the corner.

Samoa Joe then took his shot at a weakened Bryan and really made his mark on the match. Bryan being Bryan, he still managed to stand toe-to-toe with the ‘Destroyer’ but it wasn’t quite enough. As Joe tried to put Bryan to sleep on the outside for an easy countout win, however, the ‘American Dragon’ pulled a fast one and turned to tables to stay in the match.

Out of nowhere, the Bludgeon Brothers decided to lay waste to Bryan following his victory over Joe and left him for his longtime rival, The Miz, to pick apart the scraps. This was brilliant booking as it keeps their long-awaited feud fresh and untainted while simultaneously teasing it to those who have been pleading for it since Bryan’s return.

Rusev was the last man out and, as this was for a WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules, it was suddenly becoming apparent that Rusev might just be on the verge of the push he has so richly deserved for the better part of a year. Sure enough, after a great bit of back and forth, the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ locked Miz in the Accolade for the win. HAPPY RUSEV DAY!
