WWE SummerSlam 2026 has been taking shape in recent weeks with numerous matches being announced for the card.
Looking at the current matches for the show and storylines developing on WWE TV, there could be a number of stars who will be missing out on ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer.’
From former world champions to prominent stars, fans will be missing some significant talents on the roster come SummerSlam from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Here are six WWE stars to potentially miss SummerSlam 2026.
6. Logan Paul

Logan Paul has a 3-1 record at SummerSlam, including a 2025 win alongside Drew McIntyre against Randy Orton and Jelly Roll
At the May 23 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, The Vision defeated The Street Profits to win the World Tag Team Championship.
During the course of the match, Angelo Dawkins did a dive to the outside where he landed on Logan Paul, causing a torn triceps injury in the process.
The Vision member has been appearing on the company’s television as of late despite his arm having a huge brace on it.
Considering it will take longer to recover from this injury, Paul will be missing WWE SummerSlam 2026 outside of possibly appearing in The Vision‘s corner.
5. Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio made his official WWE in-ring debut against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020
Over the past few months, Dominik Mysterio has taken a bit of a backseat on WWE programming.
Despite being the current AAA Mega Champion, Mysterio has been sporadically featured as an in-ring competitor in the company.
On the July 13 edition of Monday Night Raw, Mysterio lost the WWE Intercontinental Championship number one contender’s gauntlet match after losing to Je’Von Evans following a distraction from Danhausen.
While The Judgment Day’s feud with Danhausen has been a focal point of WWE TV as of late, ‘Dirty Dom’ could be on the outside looking in come SummerSlam 2026.
4. Finn Balor

Finn Balor became the first ever Universal Champion with a win against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2016
Following WWE Clash In Italy 2026, the company announced that Finn Balor was being moved from Monday Night Raw to Friday Night SmackDown.
Since then, Balor has been crossing paths with a lot of his old friends, stablemates and rivals on the blue brand.
While he has been engaged in a story with Tama and Talla Tonga in recent weeks, Balor does not seem fully involved in anything major with weeks remaining before WWE SummerSlam 2026.
Now outside of the title picture and not having a major rivalry, Balor might be on his way to missing WWE SummerSlam 2026 due to the limited spots that are left on the card.
3. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre defeated CM Punk at SummerSlam 2024 with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee
At WWE WrestleMania 42 night one, Jacob Fatu defeated Drew McIntyre in an unsanctioned match.
Since this loss, ‘The Scottish Warrior’ has not been featured on WWE television with no signs of his return.
Recent reports have revealed that there have been discussions of McIntyre making his return in time for WWE SummerSlam 2026.
With three weeks remaining before the event, it just does not look like Balor will be able to take part in ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer.’
2. Randy Orton

Randy Orton became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion ever at SummerSlam 2004 aged 24 – a record that still stands today
Another WWE star who has been absent from the company’s programming since WrestleMania 42 is Randy Orton.
‘The Legend Killer’ has been another talent that has been in reports as making his return in time for WWE SummerSlam 2026.
On the quest for the 15th world title of his career, Orton could make his return and immediately thrust himself back into the main event picture.
However, CM Punk now being scheduled to face Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam might signal that the company is holding off on Orton’s return until after the PLE.
1. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has only had three SummerSlam matches, which came in 2016 (pre-show), 2024 and 2025
At WWE Night of Champions 2026, Sami Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Just nine days later, CM Punk dethroned Zayn for the gold in his hometown of Chicago on the July 6 edition of Monday Night Raw.
While he is currently scheduled to team with GUNTHER to face Rhodes and Punk at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, it does not seem like Zayn will earn his rematch via this tag team bout.
Zayn missing out on WWE SummerSlam 2026 would be fascinating and show that the company just wanted his title reign to create two separate moments instead of signalling anything big for the former Undisputed WWE Champion.
