SmackDown Live will be hosting a 20th anniversary celebration when it moves to FOX on Friday, October 4. One of the special guests will be Brock Lesnar.
This has given rise to the idea that Lesnar will be moving to SmackDown to try and boost numbers, as FOX is reportedly hoping for SmackDown to average 3 million viewers a week, significantly more than it is doing at present.
It was reported in last week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that once SmackDown Live moves to FOX, the brand split will once again come into force, and therefore surely anyone appearing on the FOX debut will be part of the blue brand going forward?
The report is that FOX is very keen on having a more sports-orientated show on a Friday night, as the show falls in its Friday night sports run of programming, so a former UFC star like Lesnar would comfortably fit that style.
Now that he’s lost the Universal Championship to Seth Rollins, there is nothing stopping him from turning up and defeating Kofi Kingston immediately to claim the WWE Championship.
Also advertised for the show are Hulk Hogan, Sting, Ric Flair, Booker T, Lita, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Bill Goldberg, Trish Stratus, Mark Henry, and Jerry Lawler.
The Undertaker is also on the promotional poster created by WWE for the show.
