Huge AEW Match Jeopardized Due To ‘Stressful’ Situation

Huge AEW Match Jeopardized Due To ‘Stressful’ Situation AEW

When ‘Being the Elite’ debuted on YouTube earlier today, it got fans buzzing about the ‘stressful situation’ discussed in the video.

With wild rumors flying about, more clarification comes this evening (January 16) from the Wrestling Observer daily update.

During the edition of BTE, the Young Bucks explained that last week was very stressful before AEW Dynamite in Los Angeles where the Bucks and Kenny Omega challenged Death Triangle in a ladder match for the AEW Trios Championship in match seven of their best-of-seven series.

While Matt may have made a joke about about he wouldn’t be able to tell the story although perhaps in a future book that he’ll never write, now more info about the issue is becoming clear.

In today’s daily update, wrestling media pioneer Dave Meltzer himself wrote:

“The issue was that one of the wrestlers in the match had a visa issue and they didn’t know until Tuesday night if the Game Seven match would take place. But the issue was cleared up on Tuesday.”

Meltzer didn’t specify which of the six men in the match had the issue, but all three members of Death Triangle are international talents.

Also, Kenny Omega had recently returned from Japan where he appeared for New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4.

Omega returned to AEW with gold as he beat Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Championship at the event.

Omega would go on to collect another belt in the ‘Game 7’ match as he and the Young Bucks recaptured the AEW Trios Championship they’d previously vacated before Death Triangle became champions.

The Elite were crowned the inaugural AEW Trios Champions as crowned at AEW’s pay-per-view, All Out however were forced to relinquish the titles after an incident occurred backstage with CM Punk.
