Today isn’t just a historic day in wrestling because Wrestle Kingdom 13 took place this morning, it’s also historic because three of the world’s biggest wrestling promotions outside WWE are having a potentially huge meeting.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, officials from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring Of Honor, and the upstart All Elite Wrestling are set for immediate talks.
This comes just four days after Cody and the Young Bucks officially announced that they were starting a new promotion.
Although not announced, it is expected that the three promotions will discuss the prospect of forging some kind of working relationship.
Meltzer is of the belief that the companies are keen on working with each other to a point, but as AEW could be a direct competitor for ROH in North America, it may be more difficult for them to reach an agreement.
Whatever decisions are made, it’s going to be a huge moment in the history of wrestling. With ROH and NJPW already working closely, could AEW make a strong bid to join the relationship and truly challenge WWE in the future?
