Cody Rhodes has found himself becoming quite the polarising figure amongst the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) fanbase in recent months, most recently when the American Nightmare bested Sammy Guevara to win the TNT Championship for the third time on Christmas Day.
Cody Rhodes is one of the founders of AEW alongside Tony Khan and the rest of the Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson). Cody joined up with the Elite after his WWE departure in 2016.
WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page recently spoke to the Bro Show, where he was asked about which AEW stars he believes would be a huge success in WWE.
Alongside two of AEW’s most popular stars, DDP named Rhodes, believing he would be ‘monster money’ for the company if he was to return there in the future.
He said:
“My top pick, no matter what, is MJF, because he’s been my boy all the way through, I just watched that promo again with him and (CM) Punk, the 19-minute promo, on both sides – Punk and him, it was money. MJF is one of the only true heels in the business.
“My number two pick would be Britt Baker because that girl is over. And she works her ass off, and when she did the whole bloodbath deal, she took it to a different level. The (third) guy I bring in is Cody Rhodes, who can talk as good or better than anybody in the business and I think he would be monster money there now. He proved what he had to prove. He did it in a big way, and it would be brilliant of them to sign MJF, Britt (Baker), and him.”
Cody Rhodes is set to make his return to AEW on next week’s episode of Dynamite, after missing the Battle of the Belts show due to COVID-19 exposure.
Sammy Guevara was crowned the interim TNT Champion in Rhodes’ absence. You can see a full list of AEW title changes in 2022 here.
