Top AEW Star Explains Taking A Back Seat Following Online Criticism AEW

A top AEW star has discussed taking a back seat in the company in 2023 following online criticism from fans.

Britt Baker was one of the first women’s stars signed to AEW when the company launched back in 2019, and has been one of the most featured stars in the division since.

When Britt was featured heavily on the show, she received some backlash from fans online, who believed that she was being overexposed at the expense of other women on the roster.

In 2023, Baker took more of a backseat in the division, with her having been off television for the past three months due to an injury.

Speaking on Ring The Belle, Baker discussed the criticism, and fans online wanting to see ‘less’ of her.

She said:

“I think with our very passionate fans, they’re very vocal with what they want and what they don’t want, what they like, what they don’t like. And we listen. I listen. So, if they are telling me they want more or less or something, then okay, I hear you loud and clear. And a lot of them said, ‘We want less Britt Baker.’

So if that’s what they want, okay, that’s what they’ll get. Let me take a step back. Here’s the rest of the women. Someone else take the ball and run with it, and make the women’s division about you. And you be the face of the women’s division. And when no one else can do that, I’ll be there to pick up the pieces and do it all over again.”

Continuing on, Britt noted that it was only a ‘matter of time’ before she returns to again be the face of the division, saying:

“AEW right now, there’s a new vibe, a new era to it. And it’s just kind of figuring out when and how I fit into that, and taking over the women’s division all over again. It takes patience.”
