AEW Star Reveals Truth About His Title Reign

A major star in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has revealed the truth about his title reign in a new interview following this past Saturday’s Full Gear show.

Jon Moxley has reigned as AEW World Champion since he won the title from Chris Jericho at Revolution in February, but more recently, plans for the title have had to be changed due to COVID-19 reasons.

Speaking with Fight Game Media about the adjusted plans which led to him defending the title twice against Eddie Kingston recently, Moxley said:

“I had a whole another set of plans for everything I was going to do with Lance [Archer] and I had a whole different thing. I won’t reveal it in case I go back to it and do something similar. The thing with Eddie was that it was a bridge for tonight. Like, we had this big advertised main event, but it’s 2020. As we all know, and the fans are sympathetic, we show up, somebody could have been in contact with somebody and now everything is all f**king scrapped and you got to do something else. So the thing with Eddie, I was just focused on the night. But literally, as soon as the match and I choked him, he kept saying, ‘I didn’t tap.’ I was like, ‘Oh…it’s so obvious. He didn’t tap because I choked him out. It’s going to be an I Quit match.’ Four weeks of promos, easy money. I haven’t handpicked an opponent. Whatever they put in front of me in this whole title reign, whatever opponent, whatever style, I just try and take on that new challenge every single time…I instantly saw the whole story in my head and I knew [Eddie] did too. Tony [Khan] gave us the confidence and said, ‘Do it.'”

Moxley’s next challenger will be Kenny Omega who won the #1 contender tournament by beating Adam Page in the final at Full Gear. Both men will be appearing on tonight’s Dynamite.
