AEW Star Says Cody Rhodes’ WWE Push Made Them ‘Reevalutate’ Future

AEW Star Says Cody Rhodes’ WWE Push Made Them ‘Reevalutate’ Future WWE

Ever since his shocking defection from AEW to WWE a year ago, soon to be WrestleMania main-eventer Cody Rhodes has defied all expectations regarding his second WWE run thus far.

Not only was Cody able to retain pretty much all of his ‘American Nightmare’ presentation upon his WWE return, but he has also been pushed to the moon despite his crucial role in the birth of WWE’s closest competitor AEW.

And it seems that Cody’s WWE success story has not gone unnoticed by some of his former AEW peers.

Speaking to Nick Hausman on his Haus of Wrestling Podcast, FTR’s Dax Harwood revealed how Cody’s success in WWE has impacted both himself and Cash’s thoughts on the future.

Dax said:

“If I told you no, then that’d be a complete lie because it was pretty out in the open what happened with AEW and Cody. So WWE could have snatched him up and really done whatever they wanted to because he wouldn’t be able to come back to AEW.

“But seeing that they took him seriously and they have allowed him to be a big star definitely had me and Cash analyzing it way more than we would have before.

“They’ve done a great job with him and Cody has done a great job with himself too. He’s been given the opportunities, but it’s all about what you do with the opportunities because he could have been given an opportunity and just squandered it. But he believes in himself, man.

“I’m very, very close with Cody. We talk probably, at the very least we talk once a week, and I’m very proud of him, and I’m sure he’s proud of us as well. But yes, it definitely made us reevaluate the things we could possibly do in the future.”

Elsewhere in the interview Dax would heap praise on WWE’s Chad Gable, calling him the “most underrated wrestler in the world” and stated he hopes to get the chance to wrestle him at least once more in the future.

The future of Dax and Cash has been dominating wrestling news for much of 2023, with Dax revealing that their AEW contracts are up in April, naturally leading to links to a WWE return, similarly to Cody.

Despite reports stating that FTR had committed their future’s to Tony Khan’s company, Dax has since denied that.

FTR are set to compete against The Gunns in a ‘Career vs Title’ match on AEW television at some point in the near future, which will likely provide us the answer to our question.
