Is it actually possible we could see Cody Rhodes enter the 2022 Royal Rumble? AJ Styles doesn’t see why not.
AJ Styles is no stranger to a Royal Rumble surprise, making his shock debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble after a lengthy career working for rival promotions.
Styles has now spoken to WrestlingInc about the recently confirmed reports that Cody Rhodes is currently working with AEW “without a contract,” and is actually a free agent with Styles saying:
“Well, I think I read it on your website that he said he wasn’t coming back. I don’t know about that. Cody, I am going to call you out man, I don’t know about that one. Because, you’re able to do independents while working for AEW, right? So what’s the difference?
When Styles was asked if he would like to see Rhodes in the Royal Rumble match, he responded, “Of course. Who wouldn’t?”
Other male entrants already announced for the 2022 Royal Rumble in addition to AJ Styles include Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Damian Priest, Austin Theory, Big E, Kofi Kingston, and celebrity entrant Johnny Knoxville of MTV’s Jackass fame.
Royal Rumble 2022 is live on Peacock from St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, January 29, 2022. You can view a complete list of the announced entrants for the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches here.
