Taking to his Twitch stream last night, former WWE Champion AJ Styles shut down a potential showdown with CM Punk, claiming that he is “not a fan” of the Straight Edge Superstar.
When asked about the possibility of seeing AJ Styles vs. CM Punk, AJ stated that a match between the two former WWE Champions will almost certainly “never happen”, before going on to say “not a fan”.
“Nope. That will never happen… I don’t have to go into detail about that one. I think it’s pretty obvious where things stand. I’m not a fan.”
Styles and Punk’s issues came to a head this year, when CM Punk called out AJ Styles for staying silent during his Mixr streams about the Black Lives Matter movement that was going on at the time.
Responding to a fan that had highlighted that Styles had stayed silent about the movement during his streams, CM Punk seemed to indicate that he wasn’t too surprised, saying the following:
Well. Come on. That one has been obvious for years.
While he may have no desire to step in the ring with CM Punk, AJ Styles has openly spoke about his wish to wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania. Here’s what he said on the matter:
“I would love to wrestle Triple H [at WrestleMania]. I really want to get in the ring with him. There’s always a reason – it’s not just because he’s Triple H. I always love getting to learn from guys like that. Wrestling The Undertaker was awesome for me. To have that – I’ve tagged with Triple H in Japan, but I’ve never went up against him.
“The challenge is out there, Triple H. If you want some of The Phenomenal One, let me know and we’ll take care of business. If you want me to come down to NXT and do it in front of your NXT family, then that’s the way it has to be. Just let me know!”
