Nikki Cross defeated SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley on SmackDown Live with a roll-up, thus earning Alexa Bliss another shot at Bayley’s championship at July 14’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
Bliss did challenge Bayley this past Sunday at Stomping Grounds, but Nikki Cross inadvertently cost her the match and Bayley retained.
The unlikely duo did bounce back on Raw with a tag team victory over Naomi and Natalya, but the signs of Bliss potentially ‘using’ Cross continued when she tagged herself in off of Nikki’s finisher to grab the pinfall for herself.
You might remember two years ago at Extreme Rules 2017, Bliss and Bayley had a match that has become infamous as the match that ‘killed’ Bayley, when she forgot how a kendo stick worked.
It is important to note though that this year’s bout isn’t under the Extreme Rules stipulation that one was. Not yet anyway.
