WWE US Champion Austin Theory has now teased a new WrestleMania 39 opponent, who has ‘never been in the WWE’.
With Austin Theory teasing a match against John Cena for months, it has been heavily speculated that Cena vs Theory will be announced for WrestleMania during the 16-time world champion’s WWE return on the March 6 edition of Raw.
Theory has now dropped an interesting hint another potential opponent, indicating that he has his eyes on a star who has never wrestled for WWE before.
Questioning Cena’s availability while speaking with Kevin Kellam for Sportskeeda Wrestling, Theory said:
“I’ve been saying this, a lot of people are talking about John Cena. I’m gonna see John Cena on Monday.
“Do I want a match with John Cena? Hell yeah, hell yeah. Is he gonna do it? Who knows. I know his schedule, I know he’s busy.
“But also something I’ve been thinking about, too, is what if Austin Theory faces somebody at WrestleMania that has never been in the WWE?
“I can just leave it at that,” Theory said. “I can just leave it at that.”
Theory recently made two huge US title defences, retaining the gold in the 6-man Elimination Chamber match at the February 18 show, and defeating Edge on the following episode of Raw.
