Backstage Reaction To AEW Women’s Championship Main Event

A new report has revealed the backstage reaction to the AEW Women’s Championship main event on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

On the December 21 Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite, Jamie Hayter defeated Hikaru Shida to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship.

The bout has received overwhelming praise after the fantastic performance of both women among fans and critics. It now seems that feeling is also being expressed by those within AEW.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update on the Dynamite main event, noting that there has been an unanimous positive reception backstage for the match and Jamie Hayter’s title reign.

The report notes that Hayter along with Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. and Rebel are getting a lot of credit for seamlessly transitioning into the spots they’re in.

It was also revealed that Ring of Honor veteran BJ Whitmer was the producer for the Jamie Hayter vs. Hikaru Shida match and the positively received Hayter vs. Toni Storm bout at AEW Full Gear.

Whitmer has received consistent praise since taking on the role, notably with Willow Nightingale recently crediting him for his help.
