Since her official WWE departure back on January 1, Mercedes Mone has since arrived in New Japan Pro Wrestling, debuting at Wrestle Kingdom 17 back on January 4.
Mercedes won the IWGP Women’s Championship at NJPW Battle in the Valley in February, before dropping the title to Mayu Iwatani at Stardom’s All Star Grand Queendom show.
Mercedes’ deal with NJPW is set to come up soon, and those within NJPW are hoping to retain her services.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), NJPW sources have said that they’re hopeful that they can continue working with Mercedes.
The report notes that the relationship between the two sides thus far has been a positive one despite her not being locked in to anything long term with the company.
