Batista has become one of the most successful wrestler-turned-actors ever. Since leaving WWE full-time in 2010, he has become a legitimate star in Hollywood. From his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Blade Runner 2049 and Spectre, Big Dave has become a serious actor.
Now, Batista’s next role will be portraying an ex-wrestler in HBO’s Room 104. While it may sound like a typecast role, he is sure this is anything but. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Batista revealed this is a role he has been looking for for a long time. Here is the quote:
“People have never seen me portray a role like this. There are so many layers to the character, and the subject matter is so sensitive. I’m excited for people to see the episode, but there is a huge part of me that is nervous about it.
This was the opportunity I was waiting for. I’ve been searching for a role like this for a long time.
I would like to invite people to tune in just because I want them to see a different side of me. I said I wasn’t leaving pro wrestling to be a movie star. I left to be an actor. I still want to prove that, and I think this will help my case.”
Batista’s character’s name is Raw Dog Avalanche and the episode is entitled “Avalanche”. You can watch the trailer here but be warned, there is NSFW language.
