Former WWE Champion Big E has discussed a potential return during the New Day’s ongoing feud with Imperium.
Big E has been out of action since March 11, 2022, where he suffered a broken neck following a Belly to Belly Suplex from Ridge Holland on an episode of SmackDown.
Since then, New Day has rolled on as simply the duo of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, with the two recently entering a feud against Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.
The obvious outnumbering of New Day has led to fans discussing whether or not Big E could make his return to even out the numbers, and Big E himself has now commented on the possibility.
Speaking to the Sarah O’Connell Show, Big E was asked about his personal dream matches, to which he once again reiterated Bill Goldberg, but also said that returning for one more six-man tag match with Kingston and Woods against Imperium would be his ideal match.
He said:
“That’s a hard one. There’s so much great talent now, and the roster has even changed from the two years that I’ve been out. I think something probably like a six-man, a trios match, to do it again with Kofi and Woods. That’s the best way to end things. They’ve been such a big part of my career.
“You know what, it’s a great match. Imperium is doing great things. I think there’s a lot of buzz. Gunther’s just been amazing, he’s been on an incredible run. Obviously, they’ve been locking horns with Imperium, so to be back for a match like that would be big. But honestly, any six-man with the brothers, with my guys would be something that would mean a lot to me. [Facing Imperium] would be fun. It’s a cool contrast of styles. They’re so stoic and austere, and we’re anything but. So yeah, that’d be fun.”
Big E recently spoke about his injury, saying that he wants to be ‘smart’ with his decision on his in-ring future.
New Day are set to team with Jey Uso to face off with Imperium on next week’s Raw.
