Current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley is very much backing the company despite a lot of concern about its recent activity.
There have been plenty of shakeups in WWE as of late, both internally and, more noticeably, with talent, as the company has released over 100 wrestlers since April 2020.
This, coupled with the rise of AEW, has some fans believing now more than ever that WWE could be on the verge of being taken over as the most popular wrestling company.
Speaking with TVInsider, Bobby Lashley said:
“I think the feeling (backstage) is good. We get tested with so many things. Everyone will say, ‘This is it. This is the downfall of WWE’. It’s never going to be. We have so much talent in WWE. WWE is never going to be beaten or contested. It’s always going to be the flagship of professional wrestling. That’s never going to change.”
WWE continues to perform at record profit levels, so, from an immediate business standpoint, the current philosophy is working, it’s more a question of how it affects the company in the future.
Lashley also gave advice to talent that has been released, telling them to “never burn bridges”, because who knows whether WWE may want to bring them back in the future.
Lashley defends the WWE Championship against Goldberg at SummerSlam this Saturday.
