It was reported last week that Vince McMahon’s former right hand man Bruce Prichard had returned to WWE and would be reprising his old role as number two to the WWE Chairman. Apparently that is not quite the case.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer offered clarification about the nature of Prichard’s new role in WWE, noting that his position has not yet been defined and that as of now he is not the man directly underneath Vince.
Meltzer noted that Prichard is not even technically on the writing team yet but rather he is “involved in the process” and will be a key figure in the overall creative direction of WWE. However, he still falls behind the likes of long-standing writing team staff members Michael Hayes, Road Dogg, Ed Koskey and Dave Kapoor in the pecking order.

Prichard himself stated as such on a recent edition of Something To Wrestle With, pointing out that he needs to “see where I fit in” and that it has still not been decided in what role he will be most valuable.
So it seems that Prichard will not be leading WWE’s charge in attempting to turn around low ratings and fighting a potential war with AEW in the fall. At least not for now.
As it stands, Prichard’s podcast with Conrad Thompson is scheduled to continue and he will be fulfilling all of his advertised live dates, including Starrcast, over the next few months. Whether that will still be the case in a couple of weeks once his role is better defined remains to be seen.
