More details have emerged on new WWE COVID-19 testing protocols, a following a number of talents and staff testing positive.
Despite the recent COVID-19 outbreak backstage, reports emerged that WWE had told Performance Center and main roster talents that the previously mandatory testing was no longer required.
As per the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE talent had been testing twice a week, but the company had already reportedly quietly stopped testing employees not designated as talents.
The report stated that WWE talents are responsible for self-reporting COVID-19 symptoms to medical staff, and anyone with any symptoms is required to take a COVID test. Those in WWE who have had two shots of the vaccine have been encouraged to have a booster shot, per the report.
Masks are now mandatory at all times backstage, with fines to be imposed on anybody not complying.
We will provide additional updates on the situation as they become available.
