Cody Rhodes & Top NXT Star Tease Match On WWE Raw

With Cody Rhodes now rather directionless for the first time in a long following his win over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2023, the American Nightmare may be set to pivot in an unexpected direction, to a match with a top NXT star.

In a comment on Instagram, Cody Rhodes laid out a challenge to NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes.

Hayes had posted about being involved in Cody Rhodes’ journey back to WWE and being included in the recent Peacock documentary covering that subject.

Replying to that post, Rhodes asked Hayes:

Dawg When We Dancing?

To which Hayes responded, confirming he had a particularly free schedule on Mondays, convenient for Cody’s brand of Raw, saying:

@americannightmarecody I’m always free on Mondays

Despite reigning as NXT Champion, the lines between the developmental brand and both Raw and SmackDown are much more blurred than ever before, with frequent crossover, particularly with main roster stars appearing on Tuesday nights.

Hayes himself recently made his main roster in-ring debut, competing in a losing effort against Finn Balor on the 26 June edition of Raw.
