Cody Rhodes has shared high praise for Kevin Owens, noting that the popular star often reminds him of his late father, Dusty Rhodes.
With Cody set to challenge for Roman Reigns WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39, the former AEW EVP has vowed to win the gold for Dusty Rhodes, who was never able to officially win the WWE Championship.
Speaking on the AJ Awesome Show, Cody noted that, while he doesn’t remind himself of Dusty at all, he gets Dusty Rhodes vibes from Kevin Owens:
“Kevin’s just a natural at everything. He’s one of those types that reminds me a lot of my dad.
“It’s funny cause I don’t remind myself of my dad at all but Kevin is one of those (that makes you go) ‘Yeah, he reminds me a lot of Dusty in a way’ and they had a little bond themselves.”
Owens briefly trained under Dusty Rhodes at the WWE Performance Center after joining the company in 2014, ahead of Dusty’s passing in June 2015.
After paying homage to Dusty at Survivor Series WarGames in November 2022, Owens opened up about his relationship with the American Dream, noting that in 10 months, Dusty left a mark on him like nobody else has.
Cody Rhodes has named two stars he wants to face after WrestleMania 39, which you can read more about right here.
