One of the most forgotten WWE returns in recent years is that of former WWE star David Hart Smith (Davey Boy Smith Jr).

Smith re-signed with WWE in 2021, with him set to make a return to the company.

However, Smith wrestled one Dark match for the company in July 2021, and was released on November 4 of that year, before he would make his on-screen return to the company.

Fightful Select (subscription required) spoke to Smith about another potential return to WWE. He said that if he was to re-sign, it would simply be for the paycheck, and that he doesn’t believe his heart would be into the content produced by the company.

Smith said that, after his last return, he was happy that WWE paid him well to spend his time getting in shape, but that doing that was costly for him.

Smith then explained the gimmick that WWE had planned for him, the ‘Stampede Stud’, which was something that he was pretty excited for.

Smith said that he thought the dark matches in the company went well, and that Vince McMahon had told him that he looked good.

Smith was slated to return on the SmackDown brand prior to his release.
