Dominik Mysterio Completely Surprised Being Involved In Big Segment

Dominik Mysterio has shared that a big WWE segment he was involved in was actually a complete surprise to him.

In late 2019, Brock Lesnar had just retained the WWE Championship over Cain Velasquez in Saudi Arabia, with Velasquez having been aligned with Rey Mysterio during his short tenure in WWE.

Off the back of that, Lesnar was set to defend the title against Rey at Survivor Series, and WWE added his son Dominik into the mix to spice things up and further introduce him to fans.

Ahead of the segment where Lesnar first attacked him, Dominik Mysterio wasn’t actually told what he was going to be doing, or who it was going to be with.

Speaking on Out Of Character, he said:

“My dad had told me that we were going to do something with somebody but didn’t mention who, didn’t mention what. He just said we were going to do something with somebody. I’m starting to think who we can work with or what’s going to happen, Brock never came to mind.

“We were driving to Phoenix, Arizona where I was going to be in the crowd and I was like, ‘Are you going to tell me now who we are wrestling or what’s the deal?’. He goes, ‘You’ll see when we get there’.

“We end up getting there and next thing you know, I’m getting tossed around by Brock. So, everything was a surprise for me.”

Lesnar did retain against Rey at Survivor Series, but there was a great moment where Rey and Dominik gave him a double 619 to a huge reaction from the fans.

Since then, they’ve continued on as a tag team, including becoming the first ever father/son combo to win the SmackDown Tag Team Title, but recent signs have pointed to a possible split and match between them in the future.
