Edge and Christian will go down as one of the most popular tag teams in WWE history. Their battles with the Dudleyz and the Hardy Boyz in the early 2000s are stuff of WWE legend.
Unfortunately all good things come to an end and eventually Christian would turn heel in 2001 and the team never re-united, however that’s not to say a re-union was never planned.
In an exclusive interview with our very own Luke Owen, Christian revealed that had it not been for Edge’s forced retirement due to neck injuries in 2011, we could have seen another run for the former tag champs.
Luke asked whether the plan following the 2011 Elimination Chamber match won by Edge was for him to feud with both Christian and Alberto del Rio
“I think the plan was at the time for Edge to lose the title to Del Rio and then he and I would rekindle out tag team and go on a run with that and eventually split off and feud.”
Unfortunately for Christian, Edge’s forced retirement saw the end of these plans, and after a few years of mid card feuds and title runs, it was Christian’s turn to hang up his tights.
