Elias Promo Last Night On Raw Reportedly Meant For Dean Ambrose In 2018

Last night on Raw, Elias kicked off the show, trashing the Los Angeles crowd before he was assaulted by Universal Champion Seth Rollins.

It has since been speculated that the promo cut by the Smackdown superstar was one that Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose in WWE) refused to cut in 2018.

During his appearance on the Talk is Jericho podcast, Ambrose recalled a story where Vince McMahon wanted him to refer to the crowd as “smelly, foul and disgusting” on a November 2018 episode of Raw from Staples Center. The man now referred to as Moxley said he tried to get the promo changed, but to no avail.

During his promo last night, which also happened to take place at the Staples Center, Elias called the fans “pieces of garbage” and said that they were more toxic than the air.

Dave Meltzer has since stated on the Wrestling Observer Radio that the promo Elias cut was the same promo that Jon Moxley was unhappy with late last year.

Meltzer said that the writers and likely Vince McMahon were fans of the promo, and still wanted someone to do it the next time they visited Los Angeles. Meltzer says that while some details of the promo differed, the main principles were the same, notably the jabs at the Los Angeles locals.
