First Match Set For WWE Backlash 2020?

It looks like we have the first match set for this year’s WWE Backlash event, which is set to take place on Sunday, 14 June.

Last night’s Raw culminated with an in-ring face-off between WrestleMania 36 opponents from last month Edge and Randy Orton.

It was the former who emerged victorious in an over-30-minute Last Man Standing bout on that show, but the two have unfinished business.

Orton claimed on Raw that the better man won at WrestleMania, but not the better wrestler, then proceeded to challenge Edge to a straight up wrestling match at Backlash.

It may seem a bit backwards on the surface to go from a Last Man Standing match to a regular singles match, but the way Orton worded it to set it up made it work about as well as possible.

What didn’t make it work was backstage interviewer Charly Caruso exclaiming “it could be the greatest wrestling match of all time!” just before the show ended. Perhaps she meant to say ‘longest’.

As of this writing, the match hasn’t yet been made official by WWE.
