Former ECW Star Announces Their Retirement

Former ECW star CW Anderson has announced his retirement at the age of 49. Anderson (real name Chris Wright) made the announcement on his Facebook page. The emotional video can be found below.

Anderson began his wrestling career in 1993. He had been a highly scouted baseball player, having been drafted by the San Diego Padres before choosing to go to college. After baseball, he began his wrestling career.

His most notable work came during his time with ECW from 1999-2001. He can always claim to have worked on the final ECW pay per view, losing an “I Quit” match to Tommy Dreamer.

After ECW closed down, Anderson mostly worked on the independent scene. He had a quiet run with WWE from 2004-2007 where he mostly worked dark matches and on Velocity. His lone ECW television match in WWE came on August 22, 2006, in a loss to CM Punk.

Anderson continued to wrestle on the indies until he found himself in NWA this year. This is the site of his final match as he teamed with Caleb Konley to defeat the Dawsons on March 3. Ironically, that match earned him a contract with the promotion.
