During his fantastic main event at NXT TakeOver 31, where he successfully retained the NXT Championship, Finn Balor suffered a broken jaw after a knee to the face towards the end of the match from Kyle O’Reilly.
The Irishman was unfortunately forced to undergo surgery, which he opened up about recently on social media. Thankfully, Balor was not forced to vacate the title like he had to do with the Universal Championship in 2016.
The fact that NXT didn’t force Finn Balor to vacate his title felt some fans feeling slightly confident, noting that the former Universal Championship likely won’t be out of action for too long if NXT is keeping the title on him now.
Thanks to EMedicineHealth.com, (courtesy of Ringside News), we now know that a broken jaw, like Finn Balor suffered this month, takes approximately six weeks to heal. If true, this means that Finn will be out of action until the middle of November:
Many jaw fractures require surgery. Because of that, patients may need to follow up with an oral surgeon. Healing time varies with the type of fracture; in general, the average time to heal a jawbone fracture takes about six weeks.
Finn Balor will almost certainly miss the Halloween Havoc special that has been scheduled for October 28, but the aforementioned timeline would put him in contention to make Survivor Series on November 22, if NXT takes part as they did last year.
