Huge Brock Lesnar Match Planned For Royal Rumble

Reports from several sources say that the hotly anticipated collision course between the behemoths Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley may be happening even sooner than fans might have expected.

News about future plans for the new WWE Champion has been breaking throughout the day in anticipation of tonight’s Raw including PWInsider reporting that Lesnar is slated to make an appearance on Raw tonight (January 3) and news on his next opponent.

Per DAZN writer Steven Muehlhausen on Twitter, Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley is happening at Royal Rumble.

As noted on Wrestling Observer Radio, the WWE Day 1 match from a storytelling perspective seemed to set the stage for Lesnar vs Lashley nicely, with Dave Meltzer saying:

“With Lesnar having won the title, the next step is Lesnar vs. Lashley. You could tell, at the end of the show, they teased that glare with Lashley and everything like that, and that was the last scene. The match was booked specifically for that direction.

“They booked spots all to be dominant; all the spots with Lashley and Lesnar were booked for Lashley to look good while Lesnar pulverized everybody else and destroyed everybody else. So that’s the story of where they are going with this.”

WWE Day 1 saw Brock Lesnar defeat Big E for the WWE Championship after his match with Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship was canceled after defending champion Roman Reigns tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the event.
