Io Shirai Makes Her Return On WWE NXT

After months away from NXT, Io Shirai made her return on tonight’s (June 8) show.

Candice LeRae was in the ring, running down musician Poppy when Shirai made her return. Shirai and LeRae brawled around the ring with Shirai standing tall.

This was Shirai’s first appearance in NXT since her sit-down interview following NXT Takeover Stand & Deliver. She had said during that interview that she would be taking some time off and now that time is over.

Shirai had lost her NXT Women’s Championship to Raquel Gonzalez at NXT Takeover Stand & Deliver. She had been champion since last year’s In Your House event.

Candice LeRae is currently one-half of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Indi Hartwell. If Shirai is able to find herself a partner, those titles could be the next challenge for Io Shirai.
