Former WWE Name Joins AEW Creative Team AEW

UPDATE: Fightful has confirmed that Jacobs has signed with AEW, with PWInsider adding that IMPACT has hired former ROH booker ‘Delirious’ Hunter Johnston to replace him.

A former WWE creative name has been seen backstage at the June 14 edition of AEW Dynamite.

With All Elite Wrestling set to launch their second two-hour primetime show with AEW Collision, there has been a lot of discussion in regards to the creative side of things within the promotion.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that former ROH star-turned-WWE creative writer Jimmy Jacobs is backstage at tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Washington, D.C.

Jacobs was a surprise face popping up to many backstage with hugs and pleasantries exchanged with numerous people at the show.

The report notes that it has been hinted, but not outright confirmed that Jacobs would be helping out with creative as All Elite Wrestling are expanding with the launch of Collision debuting on Saturday, June 17.

Bryan Danielson is one of the more prominent names on the roster who is being brought on to help out with the creative end in the promotion, while Will Washington was also hired to assist as well.

Jimmy Jacobs had worked with IMPACT Wrestling as a creative writer since November 2017.

Jacobs also previously worked for WWE as a creative writer between March 2015 and October 2017, but he was fired for taking a photo with members of the Bullet Club who did an “invasion” outside of Raw, including current AEW stars The Young Bucks and Hangman Adam Page.

The Elite’s Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page and The Young Bucks are all currently in talks for new deals with AEW. For the latest update on their status, click here.

Page and the Bucks will be in action on tonight’s June 14 edition of AEW Dynamite when they face Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta in six-man tag team action.
