Top WWE Star Hints At Retirement, Knows His Last Match Is ‘Soon’ AEW

A major WWE star has suggested that in-ring retirement is on his mind after over 20 years competing in the company.

Following his anticipated return to WWE TV on SmackDown (September 1) John Cena spoke to Cathy Kelly backstage in an exclusive WWE interview, discussed his current status in WWE, thanking the fans for welcoming him back while also dropping a tease that his journey is coming to an end inside the squared-circle.

Cena said:

“Every single chance I get to go out there becomes more and more special. There is no denying the fact that I’m 46 and staring down 47. I’ve been here for over two decades.

“As I said out there in the ring, the last one is not tonight, but I know it’s soon.

“To speak candidly, when you’re involved in this every day in a full-time capacity, you just think about what’s next.

“The WWE Universe being gracious to invite me and allow me back to be part of this family, for the last two or three years, I’ve been able to focus on what’s now.

“I never miss any of those wonderful moments in the ring. I know it may sound repetitive, but so is me saying ‘Never give up,’ and I never mind saying that, so I never mind saying ‘thank you’ to the people that make this special.

“Without them and them caring, I don’t get to come back.”

Although Cena may be contemplating his long-term future inside a WWE ring, the 16-time world champion had absolutely no issue getting physical on his first night back on SmackDown.

Cena laid out Jimmy Uso with an Attitude Adjustment after Jimmy attempted to drop Cena with a superkick.

Despite being taken down a peg by Cena, Jimmy’s night was notable for the fact he received brand new entrance music, which you can check out right here.

Cena also announced that he would be hosting WWE’s September 2 Premium Live Event Payback from Pittsburgh, PA.
