Johnny Gargano was one half of the highest rated Dave Meltzer WWE match in April 2019 alongside Adam Cole. The pair clashed at NXT Takeover: New York, with Gargano scoring the win and capturing the vacant NXT Championship.
However, the man referred to as “Johnny Wrestling” has revealed on Twitter that he is transitioning into a new role backstage with NXT.
The #1 killer of success is complacency.
Especially when it comes to this job.. there's just so many different sides and intricacies to it, you can always get better and learn something new.
— Johnny Gargano (@JohnnyGargano) May 10, 2019
Gargano shared an image of him working as a producer, saying that “you can always get better and learn something new”. He would go on to add that this weekend he will get the chance to “wear a different hat”. He followed this with the hashtag JohnnyProducing, all but confirming that as well as wrestling, Gargano will be fulfiling an important backstage role at Full Sail University.
This will likely be music to the ears of WWE, who have recently let go of two producers in Arn Anderson and Dean Malenko, hoping to replace them with younger talent. Gargano starting to produce early on in his career will likely set him up for a full-time role with WWE once his wrestling days are over.
