Jon Moxley To Face Former ROH World Champion During WrestleMania Weekend

Jon Moxley is set to face a former ROH World Champion during WrestleMania weekend in Los Angeles.

GCW The Collective 2023 will feature Josh Barnett’s BloodSport 9, featuring a litany of talent across the wrestling world.

Already announced for the show, former NJPW star Kota Ibushi will go one-on-one with IMPACT Wrestling’s Speedball Mike Bailey.

On Monday, Josh Barnett took to Twitter to announce that former three-time AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will face former ROH World Champion Davey Richards on the show.

Detailing the two men’s history with one another, Barnett tweeted:

It’s been 13 years since these two clashed one-on-one in the ring.

That last meeting was a time limit draw.

A wrestler can change a lot in 13 years…

But one that hasn’t changed for these two athletes – they are out for BLOOD!

The last time Moxley and Richards wrestled in singles competition was on a Heartland Wrestling Association event on February 20, 2010.

Moxley is a veteran of BloodSport with a 3-1 record with wins over Chris Dickinson, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and Biff Busick. His only loss was to Josh Barnett himself at BloodSport 6.

Meanwhile, this will mark Richards’ second appearance on a BloodSport show. He defeated NJPW’s Yuya Uemura at BloodSport 7 in 2021.

GCW Josh Barnett’s BloodSport 9 will take place on Thursday, March 30 from the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California and will air live on FITE TV as part of GCW The Collective 2023.

The announced lineup for the show is as follows:

• Kota Ibushi vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey
• Jon Moxley vs. Davey Richards
• Marina Shafir vs. Killer Kelly
• Erik Hammer vs. Calvin Tankman
• Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. JR Kratos
• Alex Coughlin vs. Yuya Uemura
• Yuji Shimada will serve as head referee
