Kayla Sparks Says She Hopes Raw Wedding Leads To More LGBTQ+ Representation In WWE WWE

During this week’s episode of Raw, there was a wild wedding segment that included a line from R-Truth that raised some eyebrows.

During the wedding ceremony, Tamina teased objecting to her impending nuptials with Akira Tozawa and attempted to swap partners, first swapping Tozawa for Reggie… then swapping with Reggie into appearing to be primed to marry Dana Brooke, who nodded in agreement to thunderous applause.

To which R-Truth said, “I don’t even know if that’s PG.”

Speaking to Out Sports, independent wrestler Kayla Sparks, who was used as an extra during the segment, said she didn’t feel that R-Truth specifically meant any ill will behind his comment, referring to a potential kiss between the ladies as perhaps not PG.

Sparks said:

“I was kind of bummed that was said. I don’t think R-Truth meant any ill will when he said it. I know WWE has a lot of control with what’s being said.

“I don’t know if WWE thinks same-sex weddings aren’t PG, but they specifically wanted me to stand where Dana and Tamina were, so I’m hoping they did it for a reason. From my personal experience, WWE has been really amazing to me and I’m hoping with the direction we are going in that they will have more LGBTQ+ representation on WWE.”

While Truth’s line could have likely been a wink to longstanding fans who would remember the line popping up repeatedly but notably from R-Truth himself during a Disneyland slideshow segment from 10 years ago.

Sparks tweeted about the wedding and the very personal significance it held for her given her own personal backstory.
