Fans have been looking forward to the first AEW console game since the launch of the company in 2019. Details have been hard to come by since however Kenny Omega recently opened up about what modes will be in the game.
Omega recently spoke with IGN where he listed a few of the game modes that will be in the game. He also mentioned that the game won’t feature a GM mode as AEW is releasing their GM mobile game. Here is the quote:
“I can say right now that we’re not sure of how many wrestlers will be available upon release, but one thing I can say is that the number of wrestlers in the AEW is growing all the time, and the roster of wrestlers in the game will reflect that. There will be a campaign, and various other unusual modes, and you will be able to edit your own wrestler, too.”
Kenny Omega also discussed the difficulties of making the game unique and accurate to the AEW style.
“My plan is not to compete with WWE and that style of games. Those games try to re-create the look of a WWE wrestling match as you’d see it on TV, and their system is to use mo-cap for capturing the moves. I always felt that the way that [Hideyuki “Geta” Iwashita] had created his systems, even though it wasn’t with real people in mo-cap, it was more accurate.”
A release date for AEW’s console game has not been confirmed. We will provide more details as they become available.
