Kurt Angle Says He’d ‘Be Game’ For This Type Of WWE Match WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has been officially retired from in-ring competition since his defeat to Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

And while many fans were far from satisfied with that match and the choice for his opponent, Angle has stuck to his retirement and not yet been tempted to step back in the ring.

However, according to Angle himself on his Kurt Angle Show Podcast, there is in fact one match type that could maybe get him to don his singlet once again.

While discussing the ‘Boneyard Match’ between The Undertaker and AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36, Angle would reveal that he would be ‘game’ for orchestrating a similar match in the future.

Angle said:

“I could do that. I’d be game for that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to do it every year, but if I’m going to do a match, I would want to pre-record it, and I would want each spot to come whenever I was ready to do it.”

“There’s nothing wrong with doing matches like that, especially if you’re going to put them on TV,”

Angle would then defend ‘cinematic’ matches and their place in the current wrestling landscape.

He added:

“I mean, having a match, where you just do it all in the ring, and you do it live in front of people. That’s one thing that’s really impressive.

That’s the most impressive match you can have, but having a match where you have spot after spot, taped at different times you put it all together. It’s still a wrestling match.

“Now don’t get me wrong, you’re cheating a little bit, but it’s still going to come across incredibly well. That Undertaker/AJ match was awesome.”

Regarding Angle’s actual retirement match against Corbin, a former WWE writer recently revealed Vince McMahon’s abrasive reaction to fan backlash surrounding the match, which you can read more about here.
