Last week’s SmackDown (07/10) was one of the most poorly received episodes in recent memory, certainly since the show moved to FOX in October 2019.
Something on last week’s show reportedly went wrong, and we aren’t talking about that abysmal SmackDown Karaoke Showdown between Naomi, Lacey Evans, Tamina and Dana Brooke.
The show also featured a Miz TV segment where Miz, John Morrison and Sheamus poked fun at Jeff Hardy for his real-life battles with substance abuse and addiction. The segment led to a match between Hardy and Miz.
The finish to the match featured a big botch, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The show was not lived and was taped eight days ahead of time, so it’s unclear why WWE didn’t re-film the ending:
The finish was supposed to be Miz doing a rolling reverse from there and Hardy reversing into the pin. Miz botched it completely and Hardy’s attempt to reverse the botch didn’t look smooth. Given thIs show was taped eight days earlier I have no idea why they didn’t tape it again.
Last night’s SmackDown was significantly better than last week’s episode, and you can read our thoughts on it by clicking here.
