WWE SmackDown Live Results – December 4, 2018

03:03am

And rounding a night of boss matches off with… yet another.

The first half was marred somewhat by Bryan bickering with Byron (try saying that quickly!), but as the action picked up and focus switched to the actual match, it was really enjoyable.

It picked up toward the end when it spilled to the outside, and Bryan goaded AJ in enough to distract him and allow Miz to take advantage with a Skull Crushing Finale, but AJ kicks out at two.

After seeing to Byran, Styles locks in the Calf Crusher and Miz taps out.

Post-match though, Bryan launches a beatdown on his TLC challenger, and orders Greg to announce him as “The New Daniel Bryan”. Then he calls everyone fickle again before continuing the assault with a heel hook to close the show.

That concludes an absolutely cracking SmackDown. Which after Raw, is exactly what I needed. Bravo, blue brand.

02:36am

Yet another great match.

After a string of reversed finishers towards the end, Jeff Hardy looked set to land a Swanton Bomb onto the announce table because he’s not going to do Swanton Bombs anymore because they really hurt him.

However, Samoa Joe appears on the titantron at a bar, because let’s make fun of Jeff Hardy’s well-documented alcohol problems, which caused a distraction and an RKO for the win.

And then Samoa Joe cuts a really odd promo that was clearly a dig at Jeff, in which he just tells everyone to drink responsibly… which is a really nice, correct message to send. And, we’re supposed to boo him? Odd.

Still, good match, Joe performed what he was given really well because that’s what he does, and up next it’s the main event, as AJ Styles takes on The Miz, and Daniel Bryan is headed to commentary.

02:20am

Up next, it’s Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton.

Be on the lookout for Rey and Joe in this one.

Also, AJ vs. Miz has just been made for later. What a show this is turning out to be.

02:13am

Bryan gets some great heat by reciting books and calling the live audience “sheep”, and… blaming everyone for causing air pollution.

He and Dean ought to get together – that would be fun. By fun I mean absolutely horrific.

Miz then claims Bryan is only champion because of everything he told him, but Bryan of course refutes that claim… and then AJ Styles rocks up.

Bryan throws Miz into AJ’s path and tries to escape, but the ‘Phenomenal One’ drags him back over the barricade. A brawl between all three erupts ending with a Skull Crushing Finale to AJ, which left Bryan smiling rather weirdly.

02:03am

Miz welcomes us to Miz TV, but is interrupted by R-Truth and Carmella, who have a dance break on the stage, and then just leave. Sound.

After about seven seconds of my life I will never get back, the ‘New Daniel Bryan’ joins Miz in the ring, and we should be in for an interesting few minutes here.

01:56am

Rusev is the absolute business. Look at him!

The Bulgarian hilariously tells us how he cannot wait to feast on Nakamura and win the US Title on the greatest holiday of them all.

No, not Chocolate Covered Anything Day (that coincidentally falls on the same date as TLC), but on Rusev Day!

01:51am

Yet another really fun match there, and it’s Jey Uso who walks away with the win.

All three men were great, but the highlight was undoubtedly this:

He’s dead good, isn’t he.

01:32am

Well then.

Mandy and Sonya pick up the win in a really fun match.

Charlotte seemingly accidentally kicked Asuka off the apron thinking she was Mandy, and then Asuka ran into the ring and absolutely purposely kicks Charlotte in the face and Sonya rolls her up.

Becky came out halfway through the match which created a nice visual with all three women at the end, and that was a really good opening half hour.

Up next, the goodness seems like it’s going to continue, as we’ve got Xavier Woods vs. Cesaro vs. Jey Uso in a Triple Threat.

01:20am

Shane McMahon is backstage on his phone with his World Cup trophy, when the Miz walks in.

He starts moaning about last week’s loss and continues to ask Shane to be his tag partner, and instead Shane tasks him to get some answers out of the ‘New Daniel Bryan’ on Miz TV tonight.

And now it’s time for the opening match of the night!

01:15am

After Becky verbally destroys Charlotte as we have become accustomed to, Asuka points out that Becky already beaten Charlotte, and Becky has never beaten Charlotte… so she’s going to win.

She handily forgot to mention that Charlotte already beat her, but okay.

Becky’s had enough so she just signs the contract and walks off, leaving Asuka and Flair in the ring. They sign the contract, and then Asuka challenges Charlotte to a match right now!

But here are Mandy and Sonya and now Charlotte and Asuka have to team together. Hooray.

01:07am

SmackDown Live opens with GM Paige in the ring welcoming the three women that will compete for the Women’s Championship at in a Triple Threat TLC match at TLC – Asuka, Charlotte Flair, and defending champ Becky Lynch.

Big fan of how they’ve put tables, ladders and chairs around ringside in case we don’t know what tables, ladders and chairs look like.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the first SmackDown Live of December, as the TLC pay-per-view continues to draw closer.

The blue brand has been putting on significantly better shows than Raw recently, and here’s hoping that trend continues tonight!

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s in store for us over the next couple of hours:

  • Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair & Asuka contract signing for the title match at TLC
  • Miz TV with Daniel Bryan
  • Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
  • Xavier Woods vs. Cesaro vs. Jey Uso
  • Two glorious hours of Byron Saxton
