Last night at Hell in a Cell, Randy Orton became a fourteen-time World Champion after defeating Drew McIntyre in the show’s main event to capture the WWE Championship, and it seems like we know now the reason for that decision.
Dave Meltzer is reporting on the Wrestling Observer Radio episode following Hell in a Cell that he is under the impression that WWE is going to be booking Randy Orton vs. Edge for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania next year:
I certainly was given the impression tonight that Orton and Edge is the direction right now for that championship.”
Dave Meltzer has been reporting for some time that the plan for WrestleMania is for Edge to return and face Randy Orton, and it now seems like that match is going to be for the WWE Championship.
At this time, there is no word on what WWE has planned for Drew McIntyre following Hell in a Cell, but WWE seemed to tease at the end of the show that the feud between Randy Orton and Drew might not be over just yet.
