Mickie James Comments On Botched Raw Finish

One of the most talked about aspects of this week’s episode of Raw was the finish of Asuka’s match with Mickie James. As Asuka had James locked in a submission, James fought to roll her up when the referee called off the match.

Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that the referee blew the call, and now James has commented on the finish. Here is the quote from James’ appearance on The Bump, courtesy of Fightful:

“I’m heartbroken. I can’t even watch it, I’m so devastated, I pinned her! I don’t understand. The referee makes the call they feel is correct in that moment. I felt like I was still fighting, I tried to roll back to cover her. She reversed it, but in that moment…I don’t know. I don’t want to say I got screwed, but I may have gotten screwed.”

Clearly she is not happy about the decision to stop the match. It remains to be seen whether she will get another shot at the Raw Women’s Champion. Clearly as far as kayfabe is concerned, she deserves one.
