UPDATE: More WWE stars have just been released – find out more at this link.
Mustafa Ali just tweeted:
“I am longer working with WWE. I look forward to the future. Thank you, -Adeel”, which he then corrected to “No longer*. Sorry for the confusion.”
There are currently no details on the specifics of the reason for his departure but we’ll keep you updated as news emerges.
Ali had requested his release from WWE in January 2022, but the request wasn’t granted at the time.
He was set to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship at NXT No Mercy on September 30.
However, it was announced on the main roster that Dragon Lee would challenge Mysterio for the title on the September 25 episode of Raw, even though Ali had beaten Lee in a #1 contender match.
In a bit of a similar situation, Mysterio winning the title in the first place on July 18, obviously a decision that came from above NXT creative, led to a planned singles match between Ali and Wes Lee having to change as well.
As noted, we’ll keep you posted with any further updates as they emerge.
